Whether you prefer a game of chess overlooking the pool, bushwalking, a game of golf, a safari or cycling to a Maasai village, E Unoto Retreat caters to your needs. With such a diversity of outdoor activities and excursions available, we can accommodate the tastes of all our guests.

NOTE: When going on any daytime activities, it is advisable to bring cameras, binoculars, insect repellant, sunscreen, hat, sunglasses, water and any other personal and medical items you may need.

BIRD WATCHING
With more than 400 species of native birds in the area, E Unoto Retreat is the perfect haven for bird watching. Birdlife that has been spotted includes the Ring-necked Pigeon, Laughing Dove, Oxpeckers and Superb Starling. The lodge has telescopes and binoculars for viewing the birds and animals in close proximity and in the distance. Birds can also be sighted on our nature walks and are also plentiful around the lodge.

PREARANGED CYCLING
Use of bicycles are available for adults and children in the nearby town of Mto wa Mbu. You may get your Guide/Driver to arrange this activity through Wesley at: 0784606654. Mention that you are staying with E Unoto Retreat to receive a small discount. Cycling is a great way to experience the culture and natural wilds in this beautiful environment.

GAME DRIVES

Numerous national parks are at close proximity to E Unoto Retreat, including Lake Manyara, Tarangire and Ngorongoro Crater. Game drives can be arranged that take you to view Tanzanias diverse collection of native animals and birdlife in their natural habitat. GOLF
Golfing is a mere 90 minutes drive from E Unoto Retreat. You can enjoy a leisurely game on Arusha's golf course or we can appoint you with some of the countrys leading professionals for a more challenging game. 

CELEBRATION DANCE
Before you retire to your room, be enlightened with the Maasai marriage ceremony – E Unoto. From singing, men strutting and jumping, to flirting and finally selection of brides you will see a condensed version from 30 days to 30 minutes.


MAASAI BOMA EXCURSIONS
Whether you visit by bicycle or by vehicle, a visit to a Maasai Boma (village) is an interesting experience. As you arrive at the Boma, excited children welcome you to this true Maasai village; the model of our luxury lodge theme. Our guides will interpret for you and the elders so that stories may be exchanged. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn about the history and lifestyle of these Maasai. You may ask as many questions as you like and take photographs.

MAASAI MARKET
The Maasai Market is held every Thursday for Maasai marketers only and the 22nd of each month for marketers from other tribes. The market is situated along the min road from Makuyuni to Ngorongoro Crater. Whether visiting by bicycle or vehicle, a picnic lunch and drinking water can be arranged by your butler. At the market, you will see many villagers buying and selling a variety of goods including homeopathic remedies, local clothing and cereals. You may even taste the locally brewed Mbege, made from banana and grain.

MTO WA MBU
In addition to or instead of the Maasai Market, our guides can take you to the nearest township where over 120 different tribes are living. E Unoto Retreat can also arrange one of many cultural excursions that are available from Mto Wa Mbu. These include a walk through the farms in the Rift Valley, climbing Balaa Hill, a visit to the local breweries or a picnic safari with the Maasai.

NATURE WALKS
Maasai guides escort our guests on a selection of walks, ranging from moderate to strenuous exertion that provide a wonderful natural experience in this secluded area of Tanzania. Click here for further information.

SCENIC FLIGHTS
If you would like to view the beautiful Tanzanian countryside by air or fly to another destination for an outing, E Unoto Retreat can arrange flights for you and your companions.

STARGAZING
The magnificence of an African night sky is a wonder to behold. At E Unoto Retreat, telescopes allow you can gaze at the full moon or search for one of the numerous constellations. Both novice and professional astronomers will be enthralled by the southern sky.

AFRICAN ACROBATS
Enjoy the power and precision of the African acrobats after dinner. Watch as they amaze you with their incredible stunts.

The sub-tribe we are working with is known as Ilaturok, which means farmers. These people want stability and growth and E Unoto Retreat is devoting its efforts to help them.

Over 80% of our employees are Maasai and we donate 10% of our profits to the local Maasai community. Our funds have contributed towards the construction of a local school and provision of fresh water. Future projects include a medical dispensary and other community development projects.

About the Location

From Arusha, drive through town, past the coffee plantations and Arusha Airport. Keep driving along this road for approximately 45 minutes until you come to the Tarangire/Lake Manyara junction.
